In the summer of 2015, Dixie Hester and her husband Tony, moved back to Georgia (their home state) after living in the Gulf area of Florida for 7 years. Dixie is primarily a self-taught artist that works with many mediums and portrays a wide variety of subject matter. She enjoys all art forms, from wildly abstract to photo realism. She runs a home based business as a freelance visual artist. Most of the time you will find her in the studio creating a series of paintings, commission request or other artistic endeavors.

In Florida, Dixie, volunteered with “The Plein -Air Paint Out” and “Gallery on Fourth”. She was an active member of SEA, a non-profit organization working to promote art and artists in the panhandle areas of Florida.

In September of 2016 Dixie participated in “The Paulding County 14th Annual Art Festival” in Dallas, Georgia. Her work was displayed at “Uncorked on Main” in Villa Rica, Georgia in February and March of 2017. Also in March she participated in the “Art Takeover” event in Carrollton, Georgia. She is currently a member of the “Villa Rica Art Coalition” and 2017 was Dixie’s first year displaying at the “ArtFest at the Mill” in Villa Rica. In October of 2017 one of her art centerpieces won first place for her client.

Dixie is taking a break from festivals and shows during the first six months of 2018. She plans on using this time to consentrate on her portrait painting endeavors--such as portrait commissions and developing a portrait painting portfolio.
